Castles and museums

The castle of Ehrenfels formerly was the summer residence and repository for the abbots of Zwiefalten monastery. The Elector Friedrich of Wurttemberg donated it to his state secretary Philipp Christian Friedrich Normann as a merit for his good negotiations skills with Napoleon preserving Wurttemberg from being suspended. Some years later he was honoured with the title of an Earl and from there on was called Philipp Christian Friedrich Earl of Normann-Ehrenfels.
Today the castle is in possession of Roland Baron of Saint-André, the descendant of the Earl of Normann and is available as location for events.

The Wimsen mill is a passionately restored ancient mill from the 11th century and is idyllically situated at the waterfront. The exhibition is opened from March to October daily from 10am to 6pm. Guided tours for groups and families on request.

Wimsen mill can be rented for private events. Information: 0049 (0) 7373 91 52 60
